Cupping
Cupping Massage brings in the ancient art of cupping to the modern Massage Therapy practice. This modality allows for a unique approach to the fascia and body fluids. Cupping has the ability to affect deeper tissue, remove fascial restrictions and increase range of motion.
We use a modern style of plastic cups at The White Birch, that are strategically placed on the body. We can leave them on for various amounts of time during a treatment, move them around or dedicate a 30 minute treatment session solely to cupping. We use dry cupping only and do not heat our cups. Suction is created within the cup using a special tool.
Cupping causes a very strong circulatory response. Old blood vessels are destroyed and new ones created promoting healing to the area.
Some of the benefits of cupping are listed below:
-
Increases range of motion
-
Mechanically separates tissue layers breaking down adhesion and scars
-
Effective for chronic joint problems
-
Brings movement of fresh blood into restricted areas and increases interstitial fluid
Cupping is an alternative therapy originating in China, Cupping increases blood circulation, which can relieve muscle tension, improve overall blood flow, and promote cell repair. At The White Birch we perform dry cupping which involves using plastic cups and suction. The suction can be mild or strong depending on your comfort level. Cups are strategically placed on the body and left static for an amount of time, moved around constantly, or a combination of both. Cupping can be added into a massage therapy appointment or you can dedicate a 30min treatment session solely to cupping.
